Practice Heathly Netiquette

Netiquette means polite behavior on the internet. This includes emails, social media, chat rooms, website comments, multiplayer gaming, and other types of online communication. It is always useful to remind ourselves and our children of the netiquette rules.
The general idea is to respect others online and take your time to think before clicking (acting equals clicking in cyber space). Discuss with your child the following indicative rules and give examples:

  •  Respect others' privacy by not sharing personal information.
  •  Don't use offensive language.
  •  Do not send large amounts of content to others if they do not ask for it.
  •  Avoid replying to negative comments with more negative comments.
  •  Avoid sending too many emoticons on social media, especially when the other party(ies) have not replied

How do you explain these rules? What is their purpose? What other online behaviors of other online users bother you? What other rules should you follow when you communicate online? Find at least one example for each rule you determine.
